Aza Sydykov is a conductor, concert pianist, piano accompanist and vocal coach based in New York City. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, Merkin Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center, Moscow’s International House of Music, the Great Hall of Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Palace of Nations in Geneva and with the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic.
He has been praised by Triangle Arts and Entertainment of North Carolina for the "clearly Russian power and precision of his performance" and by Classical Voice of North Carolina for the "precision and technical brilliance" of his piano artistry.
Mr. Sydykov is the winner of numerous prizes and awards, including most recently both the First Prize and the Grand Prize of Italy's Euterpe International Piano and Chamber Music Competition.
He has studied with Nikolay Petrov, Mikhail Olenev, Natalia Bogelava and Vaja Chachava at Moscow’s prestigious Tchaikovsky Conservatory; and with Pavlina Dokovska and Eteri Andjaparisze at New York’s Mannes School of Music. He holds Masters Degrees from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and from Mannes, his curricula including advanced studies in solo and collaborative piano and chamber music. The Mannes School also awarded him a Professional Studies Diploma.
During his performance career he has collaborated with numerous world-renowned artists and teachers like Placido Domingo, Christine Weidinger, Joyce DiDonato, Zurab Sotkilava, Mikhail Svetlev, Arthur Levy, Trish McCaffrey, Mark Schnaible, Beth Roberts, and Robert White.
His students perform in opera houses around the world, including The Metropolitan, La Scala, Covent Garden, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Liçeo and the San Diego Opera; with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony, the American Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of St. Luke's; and in major festivals like Salzburg, Ravinia and Caramoor.
His studio also includes adult beginners and young musicians who have moved on to study at top music schools including the Academy of Vocal Arts, Mannes School of Music, Indiana University, Oberlin Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music and the Brooklyn College-Conservatory.
Located at East 35th Street and Park Avenue in one of Manhattan’s most charming and picturesque sections, the Sydykov Studio offers instruction in piano, vocal coaching and chamber music.
